Detra inaugurates new liner service to Algeria

DMS Detra Mediterranean Shipping, the newly established liner service of the German company Schiffahrts-Kontor Detra, has just carried out its first sailing to Algeria.

The ship “Bremer Fortuna” carrying breakbulk and containers, set sail for Algiers and Oran, two of Algeria’s most important import ports.

There have already been a substantial number of bookings for the next sailing departing from Brake (Germany), Antwerp (Belgium) and Leixos (Portugal) in the first week of April. This new cooperation between the shipowner “Bremer Reederei”, which already conveys a considerable amount of cargo to Algeria and Morocco, and DETRA is enhanced by DMS’s efficient network and very close connections to consignees in Algeria. “This cooperation is a major step towards a stable development of our liner service”, stated CEO Ralf Kaptein.

The conventional liner service is complemented by fortnightly ro-ro departures from Emden (Germany) and Zeebrugge (Belgium) to the Moroccan port of Casablanca and Mostaganem (Algeria).
Schiffahrts-Kontor Detra, founded in 1966 with its head office in Bremen and a branch office in Hamburg is a subsidiary of the Dettmer Group and will celebrate its 50 anniversary this year.
DETRA has broad expertise in chartering and port clearance of ships in all German ports and operates on a 24 hour basis.
